On 30 January, we wrote to you about an economic exception program being piloted for renewing PMI members in four countries—Brazil, India, Mexico and Nigeria.
We described how over the past 10 years PMI has made investments that maximize value to our growing membership. PMI works every day to deliver on our promise to provide members with meaningful and useful benefits, including exclusive online access to articles, white papers and thought leadership in project management, mobile and global networking with project managers and leaders, and career development opportunities and resources.
The economic exception program, which begins 1 April 2012, is a three-year pilot that offers an affordable renewal option to members in these four countries. Renewal dues for economic exception members are set at US$65. In their first year, all PMI members must pay the full individual membership dues (US$129). In selecting the countries for this economic exception pilot, PMI evaluated World Bank country classifications, historical renewal rates and other business factors.
The membership available under the economic exception program includes all rights and privileges provided under the individual membership program. With this membership, your members will receive all member content electronically (they will no longer receive mailed PMI publications). However, if they wish to continue to receive hardcopy publications they may renew their membership at the full individual membership price.
PMI is sending multiple communications to your members when they are eligible for renewal (90-days before their membership expires) that will explain this renewal offer. In addition, the renewal pages on PMI.org will highlight the program when they log on to renew. Because eligible members in your countries will automatically receive notification of eligibility, your chapter does not need to take direct action to communicate.
However, we see that you have membership dues pricing on your website and would be grateful if you would also update your website with the new dues rates. If you wish to post/translate information about this pilot program on your chapter website, please use the following copy.
